What they accidentally discover is the key to locating the Lost Oasis of Ahm Shere, where the undead army of Anubis awaits the order to destroy mankind, and the hideous Scorpion King awaits those who will challenge his power. And one eight-year-old boy - the O'Connells' son, Alex - is wearing the cursed bracelet that will resurrect the Scorpion.
They have seven days to stop Imhotep and the reincarnated Anck-Su-Namun, Meela Nais.
Part 3 (1946)
The now-eighteen Alex O’Connell, who has in fact dropped out of school without his parents’ knowledge to seek fame and fortune, finds the legendary tomb of the Emperor Han and his massive Terra-Cotta Army. Alex is then attacked by an unknown woman, but succeeds in bringing the Emperor's coffin to Shanghai.
By now Rick and Evy shall act as custodians for an ancient relic on its way to the Shanghai Museum in China, and to keep the object safe during the journey. The artifact-in-question is the mythical Eye of Shangri-la, a jewel that legend stated could reveal the location of the long-lost paradise of Shangri-La. Leaping at the opportunity to have some excitement in their lives again, the O’Connell’s accept, stating that their cover story could be that they were going to visit Evelyn’s brother, Jonathan Carnahan who owns a nightclub in Shanghai.
It is revealed that Wilson is in league with a nationalist paramilitary group led by General Yang and his second-in-command, Choi, who see the Emperor as the only one who can bring order and greatness back to China. The mysterious woman from the tomb attacks the mummified Emperor in his coffin, which turns out to be a decoy. By accident, the magical fluid within the Eye lands on the statue of the carriage driver, which is revealed to be the actual Emperor's body. He is quickly brought back to life, although he remains trapped in his terracotta form.
Han accepts the service of Choi and Yang but kills Wilson by decapitation. The unknown woman from the excavation site tries to kill the Emperor with a magical dagger, the only weapon that can kill him, but is unsuccessful in doing so.
The unknown woman reveals herself to the O'Connells as Lin , and agrees to help them. Along with Jonathan, the group travel to a tower in the Himalayas that will reveal the path to Shangri-La when the Eye is placed on top of it.
CHARACTERS:
Evelyn O'Connell (née Carnahan) was born in London, England to Howard Carnahan. At a young age, Evelyn acquired an interest in Egypt and its history, namely its artifacts.
In her earlier days, Evelyn and her brother received a stipend of several hundred pounds due to her parents' death, which Evelyn spent according to her need, while Jonathan wasted the vast majority on liquor. Evelyn, despite being experienced in Egyptology, was denied an application by the Bembridge scholars in England at first, as they had insisted that she lacked experience.
Having an employment in the Cairo Museum of Antiquities, Evelyn worked as the museum's librarian, sorting out books and records for the Museum's collection.
Jonathan Carnahan, brother of Evelyn , brother-in-law of Rick, and uncle of Alexander. A clever man with an eye for treasure and wealth, Jonathan accompanied his sister and brother-in-law on digs and explorations from time to time, often causing some problems for others. Jonathan was well known for misusing his monthly stipend from the family trust fund on liquor, and had been on few digs, despite having the title of archaeologist.
Jonathan had, in his younger days, attended boarding school, where he had learned to fist-fight other boys.
Rick O’Connell was a former Colonel of the French Foreign Legion, husband to Evelyn and father of Alexander. A brave and intimidating man with excellent gun skills, as well as experience in personal combat, O’Connell was also a dedicated father and husband in his later years, completely devoted to his family.
O’Connell was born in Chicago, Illinois and spent a part of his childhood in an orphanage in Cairo. While there, the young boy was given a mysterious tattoo on his right wrist, and was unknowingly marked as a Medjai: a member of the society of warriors who dedicated themselves to guarding Hamunaptra, the ancient Egyptian City of the Dead. Unaware of the meaning of this symbol, Rick would take care to disguise it for many years afterward by placing a leather wristband on it.
Alexander O'Connell, known to most as "Alex" was the son of Evelyn and Rick O'Connell. Alex accompanied his parents on many of their exploits as he was kidnapped by cultists in his youth, faced an ancient mummy known as Imhotep, trained to become a Medjai warrior, and travelled the world with his parents, searching for ancient scrolls that would defeat Imhotep. Once Alex came of age, he had studied archaeology, tried to sign up in an Air Force, and eventually became an archaeologist by profession, overshadowing his father for a time as an adventurer.

FANFICTION:
The Mummy Rewritten
The Friend of Evelyn joins the group for the dig in Hamunaptra. She gets deeply involved with the whole story and starts to develop feelings for the coward and penny-pincher Jonathan.
The whole story embraces all the three movies. It is not a schmaltzy story ;)
